What You’ll Do

Digital Business Partner (DT BP) Finance at Simpson serves as a strategic partner to the Business and Finance Department teams, aligning digital initiatives with overarching business and department objectives. This role acts as a bridge between the Business and Digital teams, ensuring smooth integration of digital strategies to enhance value, efficiency, and the organization's long-term growth and competitive advantage.

The geographic scope of this role is Simpson Strong-Tie European operations.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Business Engagement: Work closely with business leaders to understand their business strategy and objectives. Identify Digital/IT needs and solutions to support the business strategy and ensure that IT projects align with business objectives and deliver value. Attend Business Unit (BU) and Department staff calls to collaborate on Business Tech Strategy. Identify and present past, present, and future technology initiatives. Advocate for Digital teams and share visibility on various digital initiatives such as SLAs on infrastructure topics, cybersecurity awareness, financial compliance (SOX, EU laws) and application management.
  • Digital Strategy Development: Leverage technology to bring visibility to digital initiatives, optimize business processes using analytics, drive innovation, manage change, enhance customer experiences, and maximize the adoption of digital tools and systems.
  • Initiative Prioritization and Delivery: Scope new and ongoing needs, identify opportunities, partner with BU/Department on business cases, and manage scope initiatives for execution. Own visibility of all initiatives, including status and retrospectives. Assign project managers and source teams, manage risk and mitigations, drive change management, handle scope creep, conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and signoffs, share lessons learned, and ensure a smooth transition to support teams.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Communicate effectively with executives, IT teams, vendors, and customers to align digital initiatives with business goals.

 

The Digital Business Partner will align all Digital finance initiatives with the different service in the finance department and the digital implementation teams. The position is responsible for the digital budget in the finance area and forecast of the spent within. Metrics in the respective area are a crucial part as well as the future planning for a multi-year roadmap.

What You Bring

  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of the business environment and industry. Ability to identify business opportunities and understand how digital solutions can address business challenges.
  • Proven experience: as an IT/Digital Business Partner, Consultant or similar role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business processes and IT infrastructure.
  • Experience with project management and delivering IT solutions.
  • Understanding of the IT standards and best practices.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to articulate digital strategies, explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and influence decision-makers.
  • Collaboration and Negotiation: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT, marketing, sales, and other departments.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in managing projects, prioritizing initiatives, and ensuring timely delivery of digital solutions.
  • Change Management: Experience in leading digital transformation initiatives and helping teams adapt to new tools and processes.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Innovation: Curiosity and a drive to innovate. Ability to develop and implement new ideas to improve business processes and customer experience.

 

The following would be helpful, too:

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems or other related area.
  • English language oral and written and advanced French language skills are a must have, any additional language is a plus
  • IT audit experience a Plus
  • Hands on Experience with an ERP system (SAP Preferred)
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.      Must have a proven track record for rolling up the sleeves and diving into the details when necessary.
  • Analytical / Problem Solving: Excellent organizational, consultative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Detail Oriented.
  • Self-Management: Strong leadership/management skills with the ability to influence others.  Self-motivated and results-oriented. Strong ability to prioritize and manage time so that the highest priorities are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a dynamic and changing work environment and work in cross-functional teams.
  • Relationship Building: Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with all levels of management from executives to administrative personnel.
